I started to get into photography around 2009 when I bought my own camera, before this I had borrowed one of my dads old ones to use on a photography course I did back in college, but then I wasn’t so into the taking photos malarkey. Buying the camera was just something I wanted to try out instead of buying another video game or something. I am so pleased that I decided to do that, now I dare not imagine how dull life would be without an outlet for my imagination a camera to click.
The first camera I bought was a pretty cheap thing but with a few tricks I managed to get some pretty good images with it, considering my lack of skill at the time anyway. About a year after that I upgraded and took my photography to the next level and had my first photoshoot with a model, previous to this I had no real interest in shooting people but my opinion was changed immediately. As I started working with more and more models my confidence in producing good enough images grew and another year later I upgraded once again and here I am a few months after that! I spend my time thinking up new shoot ideas, arranging shoots, editing shoots and shooting shoots, photography has taken over my life and I couldn’t be happier!
When I was first getting into photography I never really thought to research other photographers, mostly because I wasn’t very serious about it at the time. However now I am hugely inspired by the work of others. There are so many amazingly talented people the same age or even younger than me who already have established and successful businesses and careers in photography and it is so encouraging to know that it is possible to do what you love for a living. My hope is to eventually build my own career in photography and hopefully earn enough to support myself so I can do what I love every day, but for now I am content in creating for creations sake.
