A new photography exhibition is set to open in Belfast Northern Ireland next month. Picture This : An Exhibition of Music Photography showcases recent music photography by Belfast-based snapper Carrie Davenport in the unique setting of the Alternative Ink tattoo studio in Holywood.
Opening on April 19th, the show will run until May 22nd and features a selection of images of local and international artists from various genres of music. Over the last few years Carrie Davenport has photographed everyone from AC/DC (which Hot Press magazine included in their ‘Photos of the Decade’ feature) to a then fresh-faced Lady GaGa and her bold and imaginative images have previously been exhibited at Dublin’s Hard Working Class Heroes festival and the Oh Yeah Centre’s 20:20 show in Belfast. Carrie’s work is widely used in the press, with regular commissions from magazines including Kerrang!, Hot Press and AU and she also works directly with bands, record labels and pr agencies.
Picture This offers an opportunity to see some of her photos in a gallery setting for the first time. Picture This Opening Night: Monday April 19th 7-9pm. All are welcome, refreshments will be provided and admission is free. After graduating with a First Class Honours in Art and Design from the University of Ulster, she dove head-first into photography while notching up stints as a photo-editor, designer and tutor in her spare time.
Carrie has travelled across the UK and Ireland for work, is Kerrang! Magazine’s Irish photographer of choice and is Hot Press magazine’s Northern Ireland correspondent. Carrie also shoots PR, fashion, commercial, corporate and documentary photography. In the past she has been interviewed for the Sunday Life and Belfast Telegraph newspapers about her work, had some of her photos exhibited at the Oh Yeah Centre and her images have graced a number of notable magazine covers in the UK.

Alternative Ink is a brand new tattoo studio founded by talented artist Shane Sunday. Originally from Canada, Shane has been tattooing in Belfast for several years and his work was so in demand he has set up his own studio. Running the studio along with Shane is his wife Lara. Keen to promote art in all forms the studio will be showing regular exhibitions of art from local and more international artists.
