I don’t see myself as a technical photographer. But I do believe that I was gifted with the eyes to capture my subjects using the style that is mine alone.
I was a singer and actress for nearly 20 years, performing in Asia, Europe and the US. But my life was changed when I discovered photography in 2007 when my husband and I visited Queenstown, New Zealand.
Armed with a small point and shoot camera, I captured landscapes, still life and portraits. I then started pushing the envelope and bought a Nikon DSLR. I got hooked on landscape and still life photography and started filling photos in my Flickr account. I also experimented on macro, HDR, Dave Hill effects, and slow shutter techniques. I finally got myself a Canon 5d Mark 2 and a few other lenses. I’m especially obsessed with my 85mm 1.2L.
In 2009, while living in Hong Kong I became a mother to my little girl Ava, things has changed once again. I discovered my love for baby photography. I was taken by the innocence and vulnerability of my little subjects and I wanted to stop time using my camera. It then grew into a baby photography business and I eventually expanded to maternity, family and children portraiture. I currently specialize on conceptual baby photography and documentary style portraits.
Being a mom made me a better photographer. Motherhood taught me patience and compassion particularly toward my young subjects.
Now living in Washington State, I aspire to continue doing portraiture and possibly expand to capturing weddings. I love to explore my potentials and I won’t be surprised if I’d discover another interest other than music and photography. Hmmm… tackle guitar playing perhaps?
