I have been involved in photography at an amateur level for the past 5 years, but it has only been over the last 6 months that my passion has taken a giant leap forward and dramatically focused itself into an area that intrigues and challenges me both mentally and physically.
After being introduced to HDR photography through a number of different sources it wasn’t until I read a book by Trey Radcliff (aka Stuck In Customs), that I became fascinated by the technique and knew that this style of photography was what I had been waiting for.
The ability to add a new dimension to a photograph, capture a moment or display a scene in a way that could never have been done before blows me away.
There are a lot of people who disagree with the principle of HDR photography. These people are entitled to their own opinions and I am not here to argue against them. I am just going to say that HDR photography, to me, is the only art form that allows me to express myself fully in a way that makes me happy.
I thoroughly enjoy the challenges that it lays before me and every day I learn something new that helps me to enjoy it just that little bit more!
If you love, hate or have never heard of HDR, I’d love it if you could take a look at some of my work and let me know what you think. I have included a couple of my photos to let you get a taste for what I do and love. Thanks so much for reading and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Great to meet you! Lovely work too – very nicely HDR’d! You’re right – each to his own, and just because one person doesn’t like HDR images, this isn’t to say someone else can’t. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion when it comes to art – all that matters is that our own stuff makes us happy! Beautiful images in their own right, even without HDR accentuation.

Thanks for sharing your profile Jony.
HDR is something I have not ventured into yet but your article above is making me consider it further. I see it as an expression of art from a creation of your own. I see it as 100% photography, not like some.
Your images are fantastic. It appears to be a challenge that pays off.
Keep up the good work.

If you like it and you find it challenging and it gives you satisfaction, don’t let anyone else’s opinion dissuade you.
You have really nice compositions and interesting subjects. HDR is not my cup of tea, but I really like the underlying images.
Good luck

Thanks for all the kind words guys… it is really motivational to have support from people that don’t know me and just like my work… that’s what drives me forwards!! I’m also posting an image a day for a year on my blog, if you ever feel like having a look or being my personal critics I would love it!! (http://jonathandavidphotography.wordpress.com/)
Thanks again,
Jony

Thanks very much Brittani. I’m happy to see you’re starting to take an interest in photography. It is one of those hobbies/interests that has so many possibilities… my advice is find what you like and just have a go!
Good luck and let me know how you get on!

I’m one of those people that despises HDRs. But I LOVE these!!! Especially the boats. I think I love them because you’ve used the HDR process to make your images artful, rather than to fix a poorly lit composition (that’s when HDRs make me the most crazy). These are fantastic. Seriously, I could look at these all day! Bravo!

Thanks Betty for your kind words! Sarah, I too see so many overdone and non-enjoyable looking HDR photos. I’m glad you like mine. I really believe that HDR isn’t a fix for a bad shot as you say, it should enhance an already great shot if it is to work properly.
Thanks for your reply,
Jony

I have found the same satisfaction using HDR and it has added a whole new dimension to my photography. I feel like each image I create with HDR is a work of art regardless of what other say. I also found Trey to be quite an inspiration for me.
