It is hard to believe anyone would consider there would be competition but Robino Films have decided to pit the Canon 5DMKII and the iPhone 4s against each other in the ultimate video comparison.
The video is deemed to be a “fair” test between the iPhone 4S and the Canon 5D MK II. All scenes are perfectly synced together so you can pause and scrutinize the frames!
Here are the settings:
iPhone 4S
– AE.AF locked. That’s all you have!
Canon 5D MKII
– Canon 50mm 1.4
– ISO 160 ~ 640 (varied per shot to match the iPhone)
– F 7~22 (varied per shot to match the iPhone)
– Shutter 1/60th
– Auto WB
– Standard Picture Style
– 1080p 30
I know which one I prefer but what do you think?
Nice experiment, but you lose too many colors vs. the 5DMKII and the video from the iPhone is just too flat overall. Definitely worth trying though, and I appreciate the side by side comparaison!
William, flat is what you want btw. If it is not flat it will have crushed blacks and blown out whites. 🙂
