Andy Warhol once said “Isn’t life a series of images that change as they repeat themselves?” I believe everything is constantly evolving, and through photography the way I see things also changes. As each day unfolds, there is often an inevitable repetition, but with a camera I examine these subjects and occurrences in fresh ways. I’ve shot hundreds of thousands of photos over the years ranging from commercial architecture, editorial, environmental portrait, human interest, and documentary weddings.
My goal is to always create thought-provoking images of what is in front of me. I have had the opportunity to travel nearly all corners of the globe and I put a high value on appreciating and understanding other cultures. Currently, I shoot digital but enjoy the pace and process of shooting with film – the medium in which I was trained in during the late 1990s in Boston. My work has appeared in publications serving a global audience, dozens of blogs, and on high traffic websites spanning many industries. I have also had the honor of photographing major life events for hundreds of clients from over ten different countries. I am honored to have been featured by leading international magazines. I am based in Chicago and Boston but have welcomed destination assignments for nearly 15 years freezing the beauty, power, and mystery of what is in front of me.
Whether photographing in historic places or innovative spaces, I view each shoot as a learning opportunity that allows my creativity and expertise to expand. I welcome the challenge of working with natural, available light and well as the opportunity to manipulate artificial light to tell a story through imagery. My photography is both bold and vibrant. Depending on the assignment, an accurate representation or an idealistic transformation can be had through photographic illustration.
