My interest in photography got sparked by watching my father work in his photo darkroom when I was still a toddler. I played around some in the following years, then got my first SLR camera as a teenager and started shooting like there is nothing else in life. Have not stopped since and made photography my profession.
It has always been fascinating to me how, in the last ten years of working in my profession, I have been able to capture scenes exactly how I imagined them to be seen by others. This makes me a great people and lifestyle photographer in commercial and editorial work, and I love it. In between and for some clients, I am also involved in fashion photography and architecture. I have contracts with several stock agencies like Corbis and Getty Images.
I also have had a blog for 11 years, I could not imagine my live without seamless integration of the internet.
In the mid-2000s, I invented and named “Panography”, a technique where I take images of one sight from a single standpoint and then assemble them like a mosaic in Photoshop. This has led to several publications worldwide and exhibitions in France and Germany, my art is also sold by the galleries of Lumas.
During my studies, I took the time to think about “staged photography” and created a book about the topic, also including specially staged photographs. The whole text can be found online under the keyword “Moment” and my name.
I look up to Annie Leibovitz who started out as a youngster and professionalized her work and contacts to the maximum. Gregory Crewdson is an artist I look up to because his work is insanely well-planned and carried out. The way he works a crew is considered director-like, his photography speaks for itself.
Being a communications designer by education, I am able to work out “the whole” package. I love finding areas that need effort and then improving those.
This made me create Lumio in 2010, a photographer’s workflow tool which can be used fully online on any computer. I have not sent a CD in ages because everything I want to deliver to my selected clients via the cloud looks beautiful on Lumio, and that is so awesome (and much greener than sending anything via snail mail).
