My name is Nicholas Ainsley and I am a photographer based in the North East of England offering a wide range of photographic services to both commercial and private clients. My work includes a mix of portraits, commercial, fashion , glamour and editorial photographs whilst producing conceptual art works in my spare time.
I’m currently working on a projects called ‘Dead Space’ which looks at to explore the service stations of the motorways through the night when they are near on locked up and desolate creating a beautiful long exposure shot of the illuminates sections with car lights passing by. Looking to show this work Start of 2013.
Photography for me started out as an A level course where shortly after starting I grew to love photography working with a camera, capturing something unique then the whole process of developing the film and processing the picture in the darkroom from this I went onto University to gain more knowledge in the field working with medium format and large format cameras. Through the beginning my work focused around landscapes and looking at the effect man has had on changing the landscape we live in and the contrast between the man-made and nature. Then as my skills grew I moved into photographing people and models and began to learn my trade in the portrait section, which later led into fashion. What I love about working with people and models is the ability to put your ideas into practice creating a mood through lighting or a location, having a makeup artist and stylist on board to help your ideas come to life.
Over the past few years I have worked with some amazing people as well as been fortunate to have some work printed in Publication (Lloyds Living the Dream, Beautiful, Elite, Psyche Ltd) as well as a selection of my work shown in Galleries and exhibitions in the North East (Biscuit Factory, Reg Vardy Gallery, illuminate, Empty Shop and Edinburgh one night only).
My inspirations in photography don’t come from any one place although I think the work of Simon Norfolk is amazing; I have a habit of saving any photographs I like to a folder on my computer for future reference and inspiration totalling now at 1’629, this could be that I love the lighting, location, model styling anything really and helps through those creative blocks we all get from time to time.
