I was born in Wichita, Kansas and raised in the South. I studied visual communication with Patrick Davison and Rich Beckman at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill serving as director of photography on two international multimedia projects.
After graduating from UNC I was hired by The New York Times where I worked as a multimedia producer, photo editor and photographer. During my tenure at The Times I shot photos, wrote or produced for almost every section of the benchmark publication.
In 2011 I relocated to Atlanta as a freelance photographer and joined Redux Pictures, an agency that represents some of the top photographers around the world. Some of my clients include The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Adweek, Forbes, Fortune, Entrepreneur, CNN.com and Delta.
For me photography is an extension of who I am, like a sixth sense. It’s something so natural and vital to my daily life. Most importantly it’s the tool I use to explore the world around me and learn about myself.
My work spans the spectrum from sophisticated portraiture to hard-hitting reportage. My unique aesthetic and ability to connect with subjects on a personal level inform my visual storytelling sensibility.
